Gordon Brown resigned after his Labour Party fell apart on the issue of cutting a deal with the Liberal Democrats to remain in power. Brown also resigned as leader of the Labour Party.
LIKE IT? CLICK HERE TO READ MORELeading the attack was the former Home Secretary David Blunkett, who had been urging Mr Brown to admit defeat since last Friday morning. Mr Blunkett warned that a "coalition of the defeated" would spell electoral disaster for Labour and accused the Lib Dems of acting like "every harlot in history".
