Update from Niagara Falls PC Convention

I arrived last night in time for the constitutional session. Niagara Falls is a beautiful city to host this event. The downtown core has come a long way over the past few years. The view of the falls is excellent from where we are at. Mayor Ted Salci thanked delegates for travelling to the city for this event.

On the constitutional session, no eventful motions were passed. The motion to eliminate the PC Youth association was defeated. There were no changes to leadership votes as in the end it was decided the status quo would remain. Currently we do a one memeber one vote system with points awarded per riding.

John Tory was not here yesterday. He spent the day and night campaigning for his by-election. It is expected that he will speak at dinner tonight.

At the hospitality suites, the mood was upbeat. Suites were hosted by Ontario federal MPs including Lois Brown, a suite hosted by Peter Van Loan, another hosted by Tony Clement and also a party hosted by Tim Hudak. In what many found interesting, the Ontario Teachers Federation also had a suite last night.

Today Jason Kenney delivered a strong speech to the convention on outreach. Policy sessions are taking place. I will now be heading to discussions on the economy, energy, justice, agriculture/rural, urban issues, health, Northern Ontario, education, environment and heritage.

Later tonight we are expected a speech from John Tory over dinner. Afterwards I will be once again heading to the hospitality suites. Frank Klees from Newmarket-Aurora is hosting one of them.

Not sure if there are any other bloggers here. I saw Stephen Taylor last night. There is no room for bloggers in the same manner as was set up with the federal party in Winnipeg. I will keep you all posted if anything occurs this weekend.

Total attendance I am hearing tonight is around 950.
