It seems to The Cat that Stephen Joseph Harper is becoming more and more like the late and unlamented Marie Antoinette with each passing day.

Apart from the fact that they both share a name (the guillotined queen's name was Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna), the two seem to share the same regal disdain for the common people.
Legend has it that Marie Antoinette had this answer when told that the French people had no bread to eat:
Let them eat cake.
And Stephen Harper had something similar – The Cat paraphrases his comment when the vicious recession – the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s – hit Canada:
Let them buy stocks.
