From 1987 to 1991, Revlon’s “The Most unforgettable women in the world wear Revlon” advertising campaign featured many of the world’s top fashion models. The campaign, shot by legendary fashion photographer Richard Avedon, featured models in groups of three or four and focused primarily on the model’s face. The campaign was ground-breaking as it identified the model’s name and country of origin prominently on the ad thereby allowing the general public to instantly identify the models featured. Iconic models such as Iman, Jerry Hall, Patti Hansen, Beverley Johnson and Janice Dickinson were photographed alongside emerging models of the day including the likes of Paulina Porizkova, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Kara Young, and Estelle LeFebure. The days of the anonymous model were officially over.
