Seems that the Liberal Party now has a habit: shedding 800,000 votes in each of 2 elections (2008 and 2011), and losing around 30 seats each time it does this (from Éric Grenier of the Globe & Mail):

For the second consecutive election, about 800,000 fewer Canadians cast their ballots for Liberal candidates than they did in the previous election. In total, the Liberals lost 850,010 votes, dropping in every part of the country.
