here are some scanned snippets of things I enjoyed:

it's my girl MAYA

kitsuné is Japanese for fox.

duck face

the only Dooney & Bourke piece I've ever liked enough to purchase.

now I need these Wang's to feel complete in my tortoise shell bliss.

Every time I and others voice concern about what Stephen Harper would do if his 'new' Tory party gained a majority, the rapid response is that Harper has no hidden agenda, that raising this issue is flogging a dead horse, that the Liberals will not gain any traction with such claims.

In short, Harper's defenders say that the leopard has changed its spots, and can now trusted to guard the Canadian flock of sheep.

Some change.

To assess what Harper would do to our democracy we need to consider his actions more than his words.

And his recent actions show that he is intolerant of public debate, dismissive of our parliamentary conventions, and ready to use any means possible to further his agenda.

And his agenda is to change our country.

We should weigh his actions on the long-form census against all his other acts. This is not an isolated incident – it is one of a pattern, one of a trend, one of a consistent right wing intolerant ideology.

my best friend in the whole world just secured two tickets to the LA Galaxy vs. Real Madrid match @ the Rose Bowl!!!!

knot-ty

a couple of weeks ago I decided I needed a creative outlet (other than cyber scrapbooking on this thing) and remembered that when I was younger, I used to make friendship bracelets with the help of the crafty people from Klutz.
sooo here I am, a few weeks later... I've mastered the basic diagonal and have graduated to tricky knots such as the "broken ladder" pictured below.

(my setup at the coffee house down the street)
AND today, while browsing my googreader, I came across a post from the Free People blog and what do yah know..... they are promoting premature arthritis too!

okay, so it's the first time in a long time I've actually felt guilty about not citing a source. I'm subscribed to so much on my google reader that when I click and drag images to my desktop, I almost always forgot to see from where I am pulling. The creator of these photos most definitely deserves credit.... and when I solve the mystery as to who it is, proper ownership will be attributed.
anyway, HOW COOL IS THIS BAG/CASE?!?!

picked up a cool sonia kashuk kit today: very natural looking brushes and makeup case.
I love the wooden handles and the case has a cork board look and feel.
I decided to display the brushes in an antique lipstick holder.
here are some visuals:

Seems to me that the Liberal Party has two stark choices facing it if it is serious about becoming the government of Canada again within the near to medium term.

The first springs from this observation from threehundredand eight (one of our most skilled poll interpreters):
I think this chart is a very solid argument in favour of having leaders from Quebec.
His argument is  based on an analysis of support for the Liberals since 1960 during years when the party was lead by a Francophone born and bred in Quebec, and when a non-Francophone lead it. The thrust of his argument – based on his analysis – is that Francophone voters in Quebec are more likely to vote for a party lead by someone born and bred in Quebec who is identified as being "one of them". He writes:
Quebec has a great sense of its own identity. While people from Ontario might consider Stephen Harper a Westerner and people from the West might consider Michael Ignatieff an Ontarian, there is less of an "us vs. them" mentality. They're all Canadians.

But for Quebecers, both Harper and Ignatieff are outsiders. It's a much bigger distinction and Quebecers see these two leaders differently than they do someone like Gilles Duceppe or Stéphane Dion. If Harper or Ignatieff show a good understanding of Quebecers and their values, that will be respected. If they speak the French language well enough that will be appreciated. But for a leader like Duceppe or past party leaders who hailed from from Quebec, it is an entirely different kettle of fish.
The lesson for the Liberals? Choose someone to lead the party who is clearly identified within Quebec as a Francophone. This might give the party a chance to give voters in that province an easy way to move their votes from 'hometown boy' Duceppe to this new leader.
